I’ve been waiting for this game since the first franchise that came out back in 2007. Finally, I was able to rent it and enjoy my day with adventure and solving mysteries.
First, to start the game, you have to wait a little while for it to load. But since that was the only time it happened it was OK. When you finally get to the menu screen, there’s a small movie they made and the graphics in it look amazing. The characters looked so real that it made me pumped to start playing the game.
The story revolves around the “Animus,” a machine which makes it possible for the player to view the genetic memories of protagonist Desmond Miles’ ancestors that are a long line of assassins.
In this game the “Animus” is used to view the memories of a young nobleman-turned-assassin named Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the late 15th and early 16th century during the Renaissance in Italy. The game incorporates numerous real-life events, places, and people throughout Italian Renaissance history. All of them play key roles in the plot and in Ezio’s journey to uncover a hidden conspiracy which led to the murder of his family.
With this majestic and beautiful open-world exploration and interaction, you feel like you are actually there. The game has non-linear game play, greater mission variety, as well as side missions that actually play along with the storyline and has a more finely-tuned combat system compared with the first Assassin’s Creed.
In this game I feel like I can climb anything around me, running from rooftop to rooftop and get an amazing view of Renaissance Italy. When meeting people, they are put in your data where they give background information. Most of these people are important in history, so you get a little history lesson with a twist. The same goes for locations.
The controls were hard to master at first but when you get used to them they really are quite simple. Once you become an assassin, you are able to hire prostitutes to use as moving cover when you have to walk and blend in with the crowd to avoid being seen by the guards. But when you don’t have your girls, it’s very difficult to blend in other groups and not be seen by the guards. You find lots of treasure randomly and like in the first installment, you get to steal money from people when they are very close to you.
One of my favorite changes in the game play is when you are swimming in the water. Do you remember when in most games they have your character swim in water and the screen would do this weird and annoying split? It looked as if you were in between the top of the water and under the water and it kept switching. Well, you are in for a treat my gamer friends, in this game when your character goes underwater. You’ll get the luxury of an arial view of the screen rather than traveling under water with your character.
Having eagle vision now definitely helps you to spot hidden glyphs, guards and enemies. In the beginning of this game, you get to meet a young Leonardo Da Vinci and later he ends up assisting you by creating new weapons from translated “codex pages” that Altair, the original game’s main character, left behind for future assassins’ analysis and insight. While on a mission the player will be able to use Leonardo’s flying machine, which is actually based on real-life plans drawn by Leonardo, within the game. The player also has the ability to control a carriage, gondolas, and ride horses.
I am very happy with this game even though it can be difficult at times but I am addicted to it. You’ll have many hours worth of game play which is a BIG plus for all us gamers out there!
